White-tailed Deer Quick Facts:

Color: grayish-brown (in our desert), white on underside of tail
Length: 3 to 8 feet long
Weight: 48 to 450 pounds
Description: 22 to 44 inches at the shoulder, only males have antlers
Young: usually 1 or 2, up to 4, called "fawns"
Food: *herbivore* that eats plants
Predators: mountain lions, bobcats, bears, coyotes, wolves
humans: for meat and skin
Home: called a "thicket"
Active: diurnal

Even More Interesting Facts:

Fawns: have spotted coats to *camouflage* with the forest (for 3 months)
Antlers: males use them for fighting
Meat: deer meat is called "venison"
