LRC 480: Children's Literature in the Classroom
Section 6
Spring 2002

Facilitator: Judi Moreillon

Author, Illustrator, or Poet Study

The goal of this project is to make connections between the author/artist's life and work and to develop personal favorites among children's book creators. As you read children's literature, look for a poet, an author, or an illustrator with whom you have a strong connection or in whom you have intense interest. Before you gather a collection of that person's work, share you choice with the facilitator. You may also find a classmate with whom to do this project. Locate information about that person using literary reference materials. (In order to complete this project on time, you should select a person to study and/or partner by March 6th.)

On March 20th, you will sign-up for a presentation date. (Presentations will be given April 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24th.) You will have 25 minutes for your presentation. Click here for the Author/Illustrator/Poet Study Rubric Assessment.
