LRC 480: Children's Literature in the Classroom
Section 6
Spring 2002

Facilitator: Judi Moreillon

Share-A-Book Experiences

The goal of this project is for you to have real world experiences sharing literature with children and to have the opportunity to elicit students' responses to the book you selected.

Read to an individual child, small group of children, or a classroom of children at least twice during the semester. (You must share these book in a school setting.) One of the books you will share will be for your Southwest Children's Literature Web site contribution. In addition, share another book in a classroom and elicit student responses. If you choose, a third Share-A-Book Experience can be your Choice Project. One option for the Choice Project is to read during Love of Reading Week (February 11th, 12th, or 13th) at Van Buskirk Elementary School.

You will also sign up on February 27th to share one of your read-alouds in a small group with LRC 480 students on March 20, April 3rd, 10th, or 17th. You will share student work and/or invite your classmates to respond to the book in some meaningful way. You will have 30 minutes to share your book and elicit/share a response. Be sure to select literature with these time constraints in mind.

You will complete your reflection on a Share-A-Book Form for each title including why you choose the book you shared, the students' responses (You must attach a sample.), and your evaluation of your process.Your summaries are due on or before March 20th and April 17th.
