The Best Alphabet Book in the Wild West
Book Review:
The Best Alphabet Book in the Wild West, written by Gary and
Adeline Bennett and illustrated by Gary Bennett, takes the reader through
each letter of the alphabet and includes alliterated sentences. The
sentences discuss one or more objects that pertain to the southwest
environment. Each page discusses a type of animal that may be found
in the desert or southwest atmosphere and then proceeds to tell about
what the animal is doing in each illustration. A glossary is provided
at the back of the book to provide definitions of words the children,
or teacher/reader may not know. On each letter page, the illustrator
has included a hidden letter, which allows the children to become involved
in the illustrations as well as the written words. At the bottom of
each page, a rhyming clue is given to assist the children in their search
for the hiding letters. The colorful, computer animated illustrations
easily catch the attention of the reader and portray the southwest with
much detail. This southwest alphabet book makes the process of teaching
children their ABC's a delightful learning experience.
