I am the author of a professional book for teacher-librarians,
classroom teachers, and literacy coaches. The focus of the book
is using coteaching approaches to teach reading comprehension strategies.
The book includes standards-based sample lesson plans that highlight
ways to lower the student-teacher ratio at the point of instruction.
The lessons also integrate research-based instructional strategies.
Collaborative Strategies for Teaching Reading Comprehension:
Maximizing Your Impact is available from ALA Editions (March
2007).
I am also a published children's book author. My second book (written
for families), Read to Me/Vamos a leer, is available in both
English and Spanish and in hardcover and board book formats from
Star Bright Books (January 2004). My first children's picture book,
Sing Down the Rain (Kiva Publishing, 1997), is in its third
printing. I have two children's books in progress.
