I am the author of three books for children and families. In addition, I maintain several Web sites that I authored or illustrated. See my Author Page.

News: "Books for Dallas Babies," a collaborative project of the Friends of the Dallas Public Library and Parkland Health and Hospital System, gave 12,000 copies of Vamos a leer/Read to Me to families of newborns in 2016. The partners continued this successful project in 2017 and 2018. Tarrant County/Fort Worth Public Library and the JPS Health Network began their "Books for Tarrant County Babies" partnership in January, 2017. The two inititiaves have a shared Web-presence at Books for Texas Babies.

As an educator, I currently work as a literacies and libraries consultant and serve as a mentor for the Lilead Project. I have served as a school librarian at every instructional level. I have also been a classroom teacher, district-level librarian mentor, literacy coach, and classroom teacher educator. I taught preservice school librarians and children's and youth services public librarians for twenty-one years and am a recently retired associate professor.

Please see my Curriculum Vitae, Presentations, Workshops, and Keynotes Wiki Archive.

I am an ardent advocate for high-quality school library programs faciliated by professional school librarians centered on classroom-library collaboration for instruction, the thoughtful integration of authentic children’s and young adult literature and relevant technology tools into the classroom curriculum, and family literacy. My most recent op-ed "Literacy Matters Every Day" was published in the Arizona Daily Star on March 6, 2019.
